Gender discrimination is a serious issue that can occur in any workplace, regardless of its size. In this particular case, it seems that the person asking the question experienced gender discrimination at their previous company. Despite working as a software tester for three years, they did not receive any bonuses or overtime pay, while their female colleagues did not have to work overtime but received a salary increment when they asked for it. Moreover, when they applied for a senior tester position with a higher salary at the same company, they received a warning letter from their boss, who questioned their need for more money due to being single and suggested selling their house and sharing accommodation with friends. Additionally, the person was warned again when they inquired about a salary increment. As a result of these unfair practices, the person decided to resign. Although their boss tried to persuade them to stay by offering a mere RM50 increase in salary, they declined and found a new job as a senior tester, where they receive a higher salary, bonuses, and overtime pay.
