Ultimately, the decision of whether to stay at the accounting firm or join the listed company is up to you and your personal career goals. It's important to carefully consider the factors that are most important to you and align them with the opportunities each option presents. Joining a listed company as a senior tax executive can offer you exposure to a larger organization with multiple subsidiaries. Depending on the workload and structure of the tax department, it is possible that you may have a relatively lighter workload compared to your current position in the accounting firm. This could potentially give you more time to prepare for your exams. However, it is also true that commercial companies may have a reputation for being less supportive in terms of mentorship and career progression. It's important to note that this can vary depending on the specific company and its culture. Some individuals have experienced slower career progression in commercial roles compared to staying in accounting firms until they reach a higher position like assistant manager. Considering your curiosity and desire to try working in a commercial setting, it may be worth considering this as an opportunity to explore a different aspect of your field. If the listed company aligns with your long-term career goals and you believe it will provide valuable experience, it could be a good move for you. Ultimately, it's crucial to assess your own priorities, values, and ambitions when making this decision. Consider reaching out to professionals who have experience in commercial roles to gain more insights and understand the specific dynamics of this particular listed company. Good luck in making your decision!
