It's great that you're considering a career change and getting a diploma in IT. While age discrimination can exist in some Asian companies, it's important to remember that it varies from company to company and depends on various factors. Your age should not be a significant barrier to entering the IT sector at 30. Here are some advice and suggestions for you: 1. Education and Skills: Pursuing a diploma in IT will equip you with the necessary knowledge and skills in the field. Additionally, consider taking up relevant certifications and gaining practical experience through internships or part-time jobs while studying. 2. Networking and Connections: Build a strong professional network within the IT industry. Attend industry events, join online communities, and connect with professionals who can provide guidance, advice, and even potential job opportunities. 3. Showcasing Transferable Skills: Highlight your experience as a service crew and emphasize the transferable skills you've gained from that role, such as customer service, problem-solving, and team collaboration. These skills are valuable in any industry, including IT. 4. Internships and Entry-Level Positions: Consider starting with internships or entry-level positions after completing your diploma. These opportunities will not only allow you to gain practical experience but also help you bridge the gap between your previous work experience and the IT industry. 5. Continuous Learning: Keep updating your skills and knowledge in the rapidly evolving IT field. Stay informed about the latest technologies, trends, and tools through online courses, workshops, and industry publications. Remember that success does not solely depend on your age but on your passion, dedication, and willingness to learn. With the right approach and determination, you can definitely achieve a successful career transition into the IT sector. Good luck!
