Apply for the jobs, do your best, but don't sit by the phone expecting to ever hear from them again, because it is taking away time from your continued job search. You have a great interview and think you are a shoe-in for the job, wonderful, but continue your job search. Otherwise it is going to really upset you waiting to hear from them either way.

Avoid ruminating, don't chew over negative thoughts like "Why ME?", “Will I ever find a job”, and “I can’t believe this has happened." It doesn't help at all.

I wish I had the answer too. The only thing we can do is keep applying and post our resume everwhere. You can never know. I would also expand your horizons and follow up. Good luck!
