My boss always drag the meeting until out of the office hours, what should I do?

My working hours is until 6.30pm, now is year end and they want to push the sales. So my boss will call us for meeting everyday at 6pm. But the meeting will not end at 6.30pm for sure, will drag until almost 7pm or sometime 7pm plus. Should I ask for OT pay for the 30mins everyday or should I tell my boss that I have my own activities after work and have to leave at 6.30pm sharp?

As an HR expert, I understand the challenge you are facing with your boss extending the meetings beyond office hours. It's important to address this issue in a professional manner while keeping the interests of both parties in mind. Here are a few suggestions on how to handle this situation effectively:1. Communicate with your boss: Schedule a meeting with your boss to discuss your concerns regarding the extended meetings. Approach the conversation with a respectful tone, emphasizing your commitment to your work while also highlighting the impact it may have on your personal commitments after office hours.2. Propose alternative solutions: During your discussion, present possible alternatives for managing the meetings without compromising on productivity or sales targets. For example, you could suggest starting the meetings a bit earlier, finding a shorter and more focused agenda, or exploring ways to increase efficiency during the discussions.3. Explore flexible working arrangements: If your boss insists on continuing with the extended meetings, discuss the possibility of implementing flexible working hours or remote work options. This could allow you to attend the meetings from a different location or arrange your work schedule accordingly so that you can accommodate your personal commitments after 6.30pm.4. Seek clarification on compensation: If the extended meetings become a regular occurrence, it may be appropriate to inquire about overtime compensation for the additional time spent. You can approach this in a professional manner by reaching out to your HR department and discussing the company's policies on compensation for working beyond regular office hours.Remember, open and honest communication is key to resolving any workplace issue. By discussing your concerns with your boss and seeking possible solutions, you can work towards finding a mutually agreeable arrangement that respects both your professional responsibilities and personal commitments.
