Why does my boss think I'm a problem child? A F&B brand with no standard SOPs. Seeking input from other HR or bosses on this matter.
I went for an interview at a well-known F&B establishment, and during the interview, I expressed my desire to understand more about details such as work hours, overtime pay rates, holidays, and employee benefits. However, the interviewer, who was the boss, seemed to think I was asking too many questions and wondered why I had so many concerns. Shouldn't I be entitled to know the relevant terms and conditions? Furthermore, I hadn't even been on the job for three days when the boss presented me with a contract for signing. I requested some time to review it first, but the boss insisted that there wasn't any time to spare and urged me to sign immediately. Did I not have the right to consider the terms? Now, another colleague has joined, and it's been three weeks, but the boss hasn't asked them to sign a contract. I don't understand why.
When I inquired about commissions, the boss stated that since I'm an intern, I wouldn't receive any bonuses. However, if I were to leave as an "intern," I would have to compensate the company for one month. Can a company have such double standards?
We are earning close to minimum wage, and commissions are our primary source of additional income. But can I continue if there are no commissions during the internship period?
Note: This establishment has only been open for one month, but it is a well-known brand
