We must offer 6 months' probation to our staff?

Some companies offer 6 months probation to the potential employee, the motive is to 'analyze' and 'test' the employee whether he is the best fit for the role or not.

Nowadays it's a common among the companies. And mostly for higher positions and IT industry practices this to analyse the candidate performance.

True, this is something very common almost for every company. One of my friends shared me his experience when he offered a candidate for new position, then he rejected the offer because he couldn't accept the 6 months probation (although in the letter mention subject to performance).
